Description

HD Dynamics Scale Shield Soft Water Treatment

A phosphate-based boiler treatment formulated to control scale and corrosion while maintaining efficiency in soft water steam boiler systems.

Overview
HD Dynamics Scale Shield Soft Water Treatment is a phosphate cycle boiler treatment enhanced with a proven polymeric scale inhibitor that performs especially well in soft water environments. The formulation is designed to control scale, corrosion, and deposit formation while improving dispersion of suspended solids so they can be removed through routine blowdown. It supports stable boiler operation, cleaner heat transfer surfaces, and sustained efficiency when used as part of a properly managed boiler treatment program.

✅ What This Product Is Used For
• Controlling scale formation in soft water steam boilers
• Reducing corrosion within boiler systems
• Dispersing sludge and suspended solids
• Preventing lime, mineral deposits, and rust
• Supporting efficient boiler heat transfer

❌ What This Product Is Not For
• Hard water boiler systems without softening
• Potable or drinking water applications
• Residential heating equipment
• Cooling towers or non-steam systems
• Use without routine blowdown and monitoring

⚙️ Key Performance Advantages
• Phosphate cycle treatment optimized for soft water systems

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is this product designed specifically for soft water boilers?
Yes. It is formulated to perform best in steam boiler systems supplied with softened feedwater.

Can this product be fed continuously?
Yes. It may be applied as a one-shot treatment or fed through an automated continuous feed system.

Does this product work with other boiler treatment chemicals?
Yes. It may be fed alongside other boiler treatment chemicals, especially steam line treatments and oxygen scavengers where needed.

What should be done if the boiler system has never been treated before?
A starting dose of twice the normal weekly maintenance amount is recommended for the first four weeks.

Is regular blowdown required when using this product?
Yes. The treatment program must be accompanied by regular blowdown to remove sludge and suspended solids.

How is proper product control maintained in the boiler?
Product levels are controlled by maintaining hydroxide (OH) alkalinity within the recommended range.

🧪 Active Ingredient(s) or Core Composition
Water – Carrier for system distribution
Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate – Phosphate-based treatment for scale and deposit control
Acrylamide-Acrylic Acid Copolymer – Polymeric scale inhibitor and dispersant
Potassium Hydroxide – Maintains alkaline conditions for effective scale control
Sodium Lignosulfonate – Aids in sludge dispersion and deposit prevention

📌 Directions for Use (Summary)
Dosage depends on percent of condensate return, makeup water characteristics, and initial cleanliness of heat transfer surfaces. This treatment program must be accompanied by regular blowdown to remove sludge and suspended solids. The product may be fed on a one-shot basis or through an automated continuous feed system; gradual and continuous feeding is recommended for industrial process and large boilers.

If the boiler system has not been previously treated, apply a starting dose of twice the recommended weekly maintenance amount for the first four weeks. For weekly maintenance, add ½ gallon per week for each 25 horsepower of boiler capacity. Actual feed rates may vary based on operating conditions. Maintain hydroxide (OH) alkalinity between 150–250 ppm. Blowdown schedules should be adjusted based on water hardness and permissible cycles of concentration.

⚠️ Safety & Handling
DANGER: Causes skin irritation and serious eye damage. Wash thoroughly after handling. Wear eye protection, protective clothing, and protective gloves. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. If skin irritation occurs, seek medical advice. In case of eye contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes and seek immediate medical attention. Keep out of reach of children.
